Waltham man arrested after evading police in Lexington

LEXINGTON — A Waltham man was arrested Monday evening in a Lexington neighborhood after fleeing from a traffic stop on Route 128, authorities said.

At approximately 5 p.m., Massachusetts State Police approached a vehicle parked at the rest stop on the Northbound side of Route 128.

As troopers attempted to engage with the driver, he exited the vehicle and fled on foot into a nearby residential area.

The suspect, identified as 52-year-old Christopher Politis of Waltham, was located and arrested by Lexington Police about a half mile north of the rest stop, near Massachusetts Avenue and Wood Street.

Prior to his arrest, Politis had been wanted on several outstanding warrants, including charges for receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm.

Lexington Police stated that there was no immediate threat to the community during the incident.
