Springfield suspect nabbed in string of thefts

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield Police Officers and a Detective arrested 43-year-old Felix Vazquez on April 2 at approximately 4:10 p.m., in connection with multiple breaking and entering incidents and larcenies across the city’s Metro area.

Vazquez, nabbed near the intersection of Saratoga Street and Dwight Street Extension, is linked to several thefts at various locations, including construction sites, MGM, the Basketball Hall of Fame, and the theft of an E-Bike.

Following his arrest, under the direction of Captain Trent Duda, Springfield Police Detectives executed a search warrant at Vazquez’s Central Street residence, where they recovered numerous stolen items.

Prior to his capture, police had secured three arrest warrants for Vazquez.

A Detective spotted him on Dwight Street Extension and made the arrest, finding him with bolt cutters, pliers, masks, and a file.

Vazquez faces charges of breaking and entering into a building nighttime for a felony, larceny under $1200, possession of a burglarious instrument, and several other offenses listed on the arrest warrants, including armed and masked robbery.
