Wrong-way driver arrested on I-93 in early morning incident in Londonderry

LONDONDERRY — A wrong-way driver was arrested early Sunday after being spotted traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Interstate 93, starting from the Massachusetts border.

New Hampshire State Police were alerted to the situation just after 5 a.m. following reports of a vehicle near mile marker 6.8 in Windham.

Multiple callers tracked the vehicle’s dangerous journey, with one identifying its location at exit 4.

Trooper Kevin Gazlay, responding from the Manchester area, managed to intercept and stop the vehicle at mile marker 13.6 in Londonderry, preventing any further risk to the public.

The driver, identified as 31-year-old Stephanie McPhee of Hampstead, faces charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated and reckless conduct involving a deadly weapon.

McPhee is expected to appear in Derry District Court in May.
