Man charged with DUI after single-car crash in Rutland

RUTLAND — A Proctor man was charged with driving under the influence after a single-vehicle crash late Saturday night, according to Vermont State Police.

Troopers from the Rutland Barracks responded to the incident on North Grove Street at about 10:37 p.m., where they found a car that had been involved in an accident.

The driver, identified as 22-year-old Nicholas Blongy of Proctor, reportedly exhibited signs of impairment at the scene.

Blongy was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Following medical care, he was processed for DUI.

Authorities released Blongy with a citation to appear in the Rutland Superior Court Criminal Division for further proceedings on a date to be determined.
