Portsmouth police seek public’s help identifying early morning shooter

PORTSMOUTH — Portsmouth Police Department is requesting assistance from community members in identifying a person captured in photos who is suspected of discharging a firearm on the grounds of New Franklin School at approximately 2:30 a.m. on April 5.

The shooting incident was not reported to authorities immediately.

The following day, on April 6, a report of a stolen gun from a vehicle in the vicinity of New Franklin School was filed.

Police are investigating a possible connection between the two incidents.

Captain Dave Keaveny of the Investigative Division urges anyone with information about the identity of the individual in the photos to come forward.

In an effort to encourage community members to share tips, Seacoast Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000.00 for information that leads to an arrest or indictment of the suspect(s).
