Fairfield drug bust yields arrests, large seizure of narcotics

FAIRFIELD — Detectives from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, with the help of local and federal agencies, arrested two individuals and confiscated a significant amount of illegal drugs during a search warrant execution on Wednesday, April 10.

Amanda Douglass and William Douglass, both 38, were taken into custody and are facing charges of Aggravated Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs (Class A) after authorities discovered over 40 grams of various substances, including Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Cocaine, and Ecstasy, at a Fairfield location.

The operation involved coordination between the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, the Waterville Police Department’s Criminal Division, an agent from the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration, and two probation officers from the Maine Department of Corrections.

The Sheriff’s Office has not released further details on the investigation that led to the warrant or the arrests.

The Douglasses are currently being held, pending their arraignment, and the case remains under investigation.
