Springfield police arrest two on outstanding warrants

SPRINGFIELD — Two individuals were taken into custody by the Springfield Police Department on outstanding in-state warrants following a traffic stop on April 5.

According to a press release from the department, officers observed Chelsea Bemis, who was known to have an active arrest warrant, in a vehicle on Pearl Street at approximately 1:53 p.m. A traffic stop was then initiated on Prospect Street by Pine Street.

Bemis, the passenger in the vehicle, was arrested without incident.

During the stop, police also identified Shad Wright in the backseat, who was found to have an active warrant as well.

Wright was also arrested without incident.

Both Bemis and Wright were processed at the Springfield Police Department and later lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility.
