Newmarket school employee on leave amid child abuse image probe

NEWMARKET — An employee of the Newmarket School District has been placed on administrative leave following the initiation of a police investigation into alleged possession of child sexual abuse images, officials said Thursday.

The Newmarket Police Department is conducting the inquiry, and the individual in question was relieved of all school district duties as of Wednesday, according to a letter sent to parents, guardians, teachers, and community members by Superintendent Todd Allen.

The investigation has not uncovered any related incidents or conduct involving students, staff, or other residents of Newmarket at this time.

The School District is cooperating with law enforcement and urges anyone with relevant information to contact the Newmarket Police.

The district has taken measures to maintain the safety of the school community and has promised to provide updates as the situation develops.
