Man critically wounded in Park Avenue shooting, Bridgeport police seek witnesses

BRIDGEPORT — A man is in critical condition after being shot in the head on the 1200 block of Park Avenue, according to Bridgeport police.

The incident occurred around 6:55 p.m. on April 10 when officers were dispatched following a ShotSpotter alert and reports from citizens.

Upon arrival, police found the male victim and promptly facilitated his transport to a nearby hospital via AMR ambulance.

Bridgeport’s Detective Bureau has since taken over the investigation, which involves a substantial crime scene cordoned off between Laurel Avenue and Wood Avenue.

Numerous pieces of evidence have been spotted and are slated for collection and analysis by the Police Department’s Forensic Identification Unit.

Detectives are actively engaging with the community to locate witnesses and are compiling details pertinent to the case.

The Bridgeport Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
