Westbrook police seek information on man who followed high school student

WESTBROOK — A high school student was followed and verbally accosted by a man in a silver sedan Tuesday afternoon, according to Westbrook Police Department.

The student, who reported the incident to the School Resource Officer, was unharmed.

The encounter began on Monroe Avenue and continued down Stroudwater Street to Vocational Drive.

Police are searching for a silver sedan, possibly a Chevrolet, with tinted windows.

The vehicle’s emblem on the front appears to have been blacked out.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s with a French accent, a heavy-set build, a short haircut, and no facial hair.

The Westbrook Police Department has released a surveillance photo of the alleged suspect vehicle and is asking residents in the area to review their own surveillance footage for any sightings of the car.

In response to the incident, Westbrook Police will increase patrols near the high school today and tomorrow to ensure student safety.
