Two injured in New Haven shooting, police seek witnesses

NEW HAVEN — Two individuals were injured in a shooting incident Saturday evening in the city’s Basset Street neighborhood, according to the New Haven Police Department.

At 6:48 p.m. on April 8, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Basset Street and Butler Street after a ShotSpotter activation.

Upon arrival, they learned of two victims: a 19-year-old and a 20-year-old, both residents of New Haven.

The victims, found at separate locations on Shelton Avenue and Liberty Street, reported they were shot on Basset Street.

Emergency medical services transported both victims to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Medical personnel there assessed the injuries as non-life-threatening.

New Haven detectives arrived at the scene to interview the victims and process the crime areas.

During the investigation, an involved vehicle was located by detectives.
