Merrimack Sheriff’s office seeks public’s help in locating armed felon

CONCORD — The Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance from the public in locating Anthony Downing, a 38-year-old white male, who is wanted for being a felon in possession of a dangerous weapon and altering firearm identification marks.

Downing, who stands 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 180 pounds with brown hair and eyes, was last seen in Concord.

A warrant for his arrest has been outstanding since August, with authorities now reaching out to the community for help.

Members of the public are advised to exercise caution and not to approach or attempt to apprehend Downing.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office at (603) 796-6644.

Anonymous tips can also be submitted to the Concord Regional Crime Line at (603) 226-3100.

The search for Downing is being spearheaded by Sheriff David Croft, who authorized the call for the public’s assistance on April 9.
