Bridgeport police investigate late-night shooting at Kossuth and Maple streets

BRIDGEPORT — A shooting incident that occurred late Monday night at the intersection of Kossuth Street and Maple Street is under investigation by the Bridgeport Police Department.

On April 8, at approximately 9:59 p.m., the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received reports of shots fired in the Eastside neighborhood.

The police department confirmed that two ShotSpotter activations, which pinpoint gunfire locations, were also registered near the same intersection.

Responding officers discovered multiple cartridge cases at the scene.

A victim was found unharmed in a vehicle some distance from the intersection, despite the car sustaining several bullet holes.

The Detective Bureau has assumed responsibility for the ongoing criminal investigation, collecting and processing various pieces of evidence with the assistance of the Patrol Division.

Initial findings suggest that the incident was targeted towards the individual in the vehicle.

The Bridgeport Police Department is seeking the community’s assistance to gather more information regarding the crime.
