Teen driver charged with DUI after crash in Williamstown

WILLIAMSTOWN — Troopers from the Berlin Barracks responded to a single motor vehicle crash at 6:16 p.m. on April 7 on VT Route 14 near Falls Bridge Road.

A 19-year-old from Washington lost control of their vehicle, hitting a mailbox before crashing into a wooded area, police said.

The mailbox belonged to 35-year-old Stephen McKinstry of Williamstown.

The juvenile driver, whose name has not been released due to age, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Central Vermont Medical Center.

After showing signs of impairment, the driver was processed for DUI at the medical facility and released with a citation.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
