Suspect surrenders after Boston police post photo on Facebook

BOSTON — A 21-year-old man turned himself in to detectives Sunday afternoon after his photo was circulated on the Boston Police Department’s official Facebook page in connection with a shots fired incident in Dorchester.

Santo Mateo Arias, a Boston resident, surrendered to authorities at about 2:30 p.m., following the department’s social media appeal.

The shooting took place on March 31, where gunfire was reported around 2:38 a.m. near 61 Supple Road.

While some of the individuals and a vehicle involved had been identified, authorities were working to determine the identities of the remaining suspects captured in the photos they released on Facebook.

Arias was arrested and is expected to face firearm-related charges in Roxbury District Court.

The investigation has also led to the identification of additional suspects and a vehicle believed to be involved in the incident.
