Man found dead from apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in Waterbury

WATERBURY — Vermont State Police responded to a call at 11:59 a.m. on April 7 at the intersection of Ring Road and Bear Creek Lane, where they discovered a deceased male in his vehicle.

The man was identified as 55-year-old resident of Waterbury.

The initial investigation suggested that he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Authorities have stated that the death is not considered suspicious.

His body has since been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) for an autopsy to determine the exact cause and manner of his death.

Vermont State Police continue to investigate the incident and have conducted multiple interviews as part of their ongoing efforts to piece together the events leading to Champine’s death.
