One arrested in Rochester shooting, victim in serious condition

ROCHESTER — A shooting incident on Thursday night led to the arrest of a 44-year-old man after police and emergency services responded to reports of gunfire and a man injured on the street.

At approximately 10:18 p.m., Rochester police, alongside Fire and Frisbie EMS personnel, arrived at 41/43 Summer St. to find a 37-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds lying on the sidewalk.

Officers provided first aid to control the bleeding before the arrival of fire and EMS teams.

The victim was initially transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital by Frisbie EMS and subsequently moved to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, where he is listed in serious condition.

During the investigation at the scene, police identified all parties involved and gathered testimony from witnesses.

Jason Levesque of 41 Summer St. in Rochester was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder, second-degree assault, and reckless conduct—each classified under their respective felony classes.

Levesque is currently being held at Strafford County Jail and will face arraignment at The Rochester District Court on April 5 at 11 a.m.

The Rochester Police Department’s detective bureau continues to actively investigate the case.
