Two arrested in Newfane crash for DUI and drug possession

NEWFANE — A single-vehicle accident on VT Route 30 led to the arrest of two individuals on various charges including DUI drug and heroin possession, Vermont State Police reported.

Tobias Devoe, 48, of Bellows Falls, was operating the vehicle when the crash occurred on April 2 at approximately 1:52 p.m. Upon their arrival, troopers observed signs of impairment in Devoe’s behavior.

After screening, Devoe was arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

Ashlyn Gates, 33, from Brattleboro, was a passenger in the vehicle.

Gates was found to be in possession of heroin and was also determined to be violating conditions of a previous release.

She was arrested at the scene.

Both Devoe and Gates were processed at the Westminster Barracks.

They were released with criminal citations and are scheduled to appear before the Windham County Superior Court on May 21 at 8:30 a.m.
