SHELDON — A motor vehicle fire that spread to nearby woods on the Missisquoi Valley Rail Trail is currently under investigation, with local authorities seeking information from the public.

The Sheldon Fire Department responded to a call at approximately 6:30 p.m. March 31 after reports of a vehicle ablaze off Boarding House Road.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, preventing further spread and damage.

Vermont State Police in St Albans were promptly notified, and the Department of Public Safety Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit began examining the scene on April 1.

Initial findings indicate the vehicle, belonging to 46-year-old Terra Fenn, formerly of St Albans, was not stolen.

However, the cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.

Investigators are urging anyone with information to contact the State Police at (802)524-5993 or provide tips to the Vermont Arson Tip Award Program at 800-32-ARSON.
