Norwalk road closure due to building safety concerns, residents evacuated

NORWALK — A section of Ely Ave. has been closed between Moscariello Pl. and Testa Pl. following a structural issue identified at building 23 in Roodner Court, prompting authorities to evacuate residents for safety.

The Norwalk Police Department is on scene assisting Norwalk Housing in the safe evacuation of the area.

Due to the closure, the main entrance to Roodner Court is currently inaccessible.

Traffic has been re-routed to accommodate both an entry and exit lane to facilitate resident movement and emergency access.

Police are urging the public to avoid the area to prevent congestion and ensure a smooth evacuation process.

The safety of the community remains the highest priority, and the situation is being managed closely by the responding officers.
