Pownal man charged with aggravated domestic assault

POWNAL — A Pownal man was arrested early Tuesday morning after allegedly threatening a household member with a deadly weapon, according to Vermont State Police.

Authorities responded to a domestic disturbance call on VT Route 346 at approximately 7:48 a.m. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of Matthew Wright, 34, on charges of first-degree aggravated domestic assault.

Wright is accused of placing the victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, in fear of imminent serious bodily injury or death during an incident on March 2.

Following his arrest, Wright was processed at the Shaftsbury Barracks.

After processing, Wright was held without bail and transported to Marble Valley Correctional Facility pending further legal action.

The conditions of release were imposed, but he remains in custody on the charge.
