Ferrisburgh teen injured in single-vehicle crash on Hawkins Road

FERRISBURGH — A 16-year-old local girl was injured in a crash early Monday morning after her vehicle struck a telephone pole on Hawkins Road.

State troopers reported that Faith McAllister was driving a 2012 Ford Escape when she became distracted by her cell phone.

The incident occurred just before 8 a.m. north of Little Chicago Road.

The weather was cloudy and road conditions were dry at the time of the accident.

McAllister, who was wearing her seatbelt, sustained minor injuries and was transported to UVM Medical Center for treatment.

Her vehicle was totaled in the collision.

Authorities were assisted at the scene by the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad and Ferrisburgh Fire Department.

The accident is still under investigation.
