BRANFORD — After responding to an assault at Greens Condominiums late Friday night, Branford Police Department officers detained a female suspect and arrested a male suspect for carrying an unpermitted firearm.

The incident, which occurred around 10:30 p.m., led to a foot chase as three individuals were reported to have fled the scene, with one potentially armed.

Officers canvassed the area and detained 19-year-old Nyeja Bember, who was later charged with two counts of disorderly conduct and second-degree breach of peace.

Bember appeared in court on April 1.

While Bember was being detained, two males continued to flee.

Branford officers, responding rapidly, observed one of the males entering Junior’s Billiard Bar and apprehended him without incident.

Upon arrest, they found a .45 caliber Ruger firearm on 19-year-old Nahshon Langs of New Haven.

Langs faces charges including carrying a pistol without a permit, disorderly conduct, and second-degree breach of peace.

He posted a $25,000 bond and is set to appear in New Haven Court on April 9.

The East Haven Police Department assisted in locating the third individual, who was determined not to be involved in the earlier altercation.
