Topsham police investigate death of Bowdoin College student

TOPSHAM — A Bowdoin College student from California was found dead early Saturday morning in a parking lot at 2 Main Street, the Topsham Police Department reported.

Officers were dispatched to the scene at 7:02 a.m. after receiving a report of a deceased person located in the lot, which is used for parking construction equipment for the Frank J.

Woods Bridge replacement project.

They confirmed the death of the 20-year-old female upon arrival.

The identity of the woman is being withheld as the police department allows time for her family to notify relatives and friends about her untimely death.

The body has been transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, with results pending.

Topsham Police Chief Marc Hagan stated that while the investigation is ongoing, there does not appear to be any active threat to the community.

The department extended its condolences to the victim’s family and friends, as well as to the Bowdoin College community.
