Hollis man charged with DUI after crashing into utility pole

HOLLIS — A 74-year-old Westford man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after his vehicle struck a utility pole on Depot Road near Nichols Field on March 31.

Hollis Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene of the crash around 5 p.m., where they found that Daniel Locke had crossed over the double solid yellow lines, traveled through the opposite lane, and collided with a utility pole.

Locke declined medical treatment at the scene.

During their investigation, officers noticed signs of impairment and subsequently arrested him.

He is facing a class B misdemeanor charge for DUI.

After being processed at the Hollis Police Department, Locke was released on personal recognizance bail.

He is scheduled for arraignment at the 9th Circuit Court, Nashua District.

The accident occurred in an area frequented by pedestrians, bicyclists, and equestrians, especially during warm, sunny weather.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
