Chelsea police release name of pedestrian killed in Second Street accident

CHELSEA — The Chelsea Police Department, in conjunction with State Police Detectives from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, is continuing their investigation into a fatal accident that claimed the life of a 36-year-old pedestrian, Jean Baptiste, on Second Street.

The incident, which occurred on March 29, was reported to the Chelsea Police Department (CPD) at 7:13 p.m.

Officers responded to the scene near 240 Second Street where they found Baptiste on the sidewalk.

Despite immediate aid rendered by the officers, Baptiste succumbed to her injuries.

Chief Houghton stated that the driver involved in the accident remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

The Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit is assisting the CPD in this ongoing investigation.
