Boston man arrested in connection with Dorchester shooting

BOSTON — A 27-year-old Dorchester man was arrested Friday in connection to a shooting incident that left another man with life-threatening injuries.

Irvin Woods, identified by Boston Police Department detectives from District C-11, is facing charges related to firearm possession and other offenses following a thorough investigation into a shooting that occurred on March 24.

On the night of the incident, police responded to reports of gunfire near Dorchester Avenue and Ashmont Street at approximately 9:07 p.m.

Two shot spotter activations were triggered at 567 Talbot Avenue shortly before officers arrived on the scene.

Upon arrival, law enforcement found an adult male victim with multiple gunshot wounds.

He was quickly transported to a local hospital for emergency care.

Woods, who was wanted on a warrant from Dorchester District Court, is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and possession of an open container of alcohol.

His arraignment is set to take place in Dorchester District Court.
