FAIRFIELD — Following an extensive investigation prompted by a cyber tip, Fairfield Police have arrested Dontrell Dayshawn Rodriguez, 29, on charges of possessing child pornography.

The Fairfield Police Department, assisted by the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit, began the investigation several months ago, which involved executing search and seizure warrants on various file hosting services and internet service providers from December through March.

Evidence gathered led to the identification of Rodriguez as a suspect.

Arrest and search warrants were then issued for his person, electronic devices, and residence.

Rodriguez was apprehended on March 27 and charged with Possession of Child Pornography under C.G.S. 53a-196d.

His electronic devices were seized for further investigation.

He was held on a $75,000 court-set bond and appeared at Bridgeport Superior Court the following day.

Fairfield Police emphasized the importance of interagency collaboration with the Connecticut State Police and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in apprehending individuals involved in child exploitation crimes and vowed to continue efforts to protect children and bring offenders to justice.
