DANBY — A local man was taken into custody on March 26 after Vermont State Police responded to a reported theft on Holland Heights Road.

Derrick Kent, 41, of Mt. Tabor, is accused of stealing and selling property that belonged to 60-year-old Lori Kent, also from Mt. Tabor.

Troopers from the Rutland Barracks arrived at the scene around 1:02 p.m. to investigate the incident.

In addition to the petit larceny and selling of stolen property charges, Kent was found to have an active warrant for his arrest.

The warrant was issued after he failed to appear in court for a third or subsequent DUI charge and for operating a vehicle with a suspended license due to a previous DUI, with a set bail of $500.

Following his arrest, Kent was processed at the Rutland Barracks.

He was subsequently lodged at the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility based on the warrant for his arrest.
