Major drug bust in Waterbury, CT leads to three arrests, seizure of weapons and narcotics

WATERBURY — Investigators from the Waterbury Police Department’s Vice and Intelligence Division, Gang Task Force Unit, and Auto Theft Task Force, in coordination with agents from the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), executed multiple search and seizure warrants on March 20, resulting in the arrest of three men and the recovery of firearms and significant quantities of narcotics.

The searches, conducted at locations including 20 Meadow Brook Drive, 71 Eastwood Avenue, 32 Sylvan Avenue (garages), and 38 Fairmount Street, targeted individuals identified as Gabriel Lopez-Millete, Javier Cuevas-Colon, and Angel Cuevas-Colon.

During the operation, law enforcement officials seized a loaded Glock .40 caliber handgun equipped with an auto switch mechanism, a loaded TCP .380 caliber handgun, $10,958 in U.S. currency, 151.7 grams of cocaine, 280 grams of raw heroin, and 847 bags of heroin laced with fentanyl.

Gabriel Lopez-Millette, 37, residing at 38 Fairmount Street, faces charges including possession of an assault weapon, possession of an ounce or more of heroin, possession of half an ounce or more of cocaine in the freebase form, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell (4 counts), and operation of a drug factory.

After his arraignment on March 25, he remains in custody on bond with the Connecticut Department of Corrections.

Javier Cuevas-Colon, 45, from 273 South Leonard Street, was charged with possession of an ounce or more of heroin, possession of half an ounce or more of cocaine in the freebase form, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell (3 counts), operation of a drug factory, and interfering with a search warrant.

In addition to these charges, Cuevas-Colon was served with several failure to appear warrants.

Following his March 25 arraignment, he is also being held on bond by the Connecticut Department of Corrections.

Angel Cuevas-Colon, 49, of 20 Meadowbrook Drive, was charged with possession of an ounce or more of heroin, possession of half an ounce or more of cocaine in the freebase form, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell (3 counts), and operation of a drug factory.

As a convicted felon with previous narcotics felony arrests, Cuevas-Colon posted a $1 million bond and is slated for arraignment on May 1.
