Wallingford man arrested for violating stalking order at local store

WALLINGFORD — A 68-year-old resident was arrested Saturday for violating a temporary stalking order, according to Vermont State Police.

Troopers from the Rutland Barracks responded to a call about a threatening incident at the Family Dollar store at approximately 1:23 p.m.

Upon arrival, they determined that Randy McLellan had breached the conditions of a stalking order that had been previously served to him.

McLellan was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Rutland Barracks for processing.

Following his arrest, he was released with conditions stating that he must appear at the Vermont Superior Court, Rutland Criminal Division, on Monday at 12:30 p.m.

The victim, identified as 58-year-old Rhonda Renner, is also a Wallingford resident.

Further details regarding the nature of the stalking order or any prior incidents were not immediately available.

The investigation is ongoing.
