Hillsboro fire escalates to second alarm, multiple agencies respond

HILLSBORO — A building fire at 13 Myrtle St. escalated to a second alarm Thursday afternoon, prompting a large-scale response from multiple fire departments in the region.

Hillsboro Police Department and Fire/EMS were dispatched at 4:47 p.m. to the reported fire.

Hillsboro command unit C3 arrived on the scene to find heavy fire conditions on the second floor of the building.

Shortly after, command was transferred to Hillsboro C1, who requested a second alarm as the fire extended to the third floor.

Mutual aid was provided by several fire and rescue departments, including Henniker Firefighters Association, Deering Fire & Rescue, Francestown NH Fire and Rescue, Bennington Fire-Rescue, Antrim Fire & Ambulance, Washington NH Fire and EMS, Weare NH Fire, and Capital Area CQ.

Due to the fire, Hillsboro Police Department has closed sections of School, Myrtle, and Center streets.

Responding units were directed to stage at the fire department as they arrived at the scene.
