WOODFORD — A 70-year-old man from Toms River, New Jersey, escaped injury in a rollover crash on Vermont Route 9 near Notch Rd, authorities said.

Gary Seaman was westbound on Route 9 at about 10 a.m. Saturday when he lost control of his 2012 Toyota Highlander during a right-hand curve, Vermont State Police reported.

The vehicle slid sideways on the snow and slush-covered road, rolling over onto its passenger side in the westbound embankment about a mile east of Notch Rd.

Seaman, who was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, did not sustain any injuries.

The Highlander sustained significant passenger-side and roof damage.

The Vermont State Police were assisted at the scene by the Bennington Rural Fire Department, Bennington Rescue Squad, and All Service Citgo.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, but the wintry mix and road conditions likely contributed to the crash, officials said.
