ROCHESTER — A motor vehicle crash early Thursday morning resulted in serious injuries and the closure of an exit ramp on Route 16 South, authorities said.

New Hampshire State Police responded to the Spaulding Turnpike near Exit 15 at approximately 5:25 a.m. after a report of a single-vehicle accident involving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado.

The driver, Rachel Maschino, 44, of Milton Mills, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

Officials said Maschino was traveling southbound when she encountered slower traffic due to a sudden snow squall hitting the greater Rochester area.

Attempting to avoid a collision, she lost control, struck a guardrail on the off-ramp, and the vehicle rolled over.

Maschino sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.

Her passenger, Timothy Yeaton, 25, also from Milton Mills, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The southbound off-ramp at Exit 15 was closed for several hours for emergency response and investigation.

The Rochester Fire Department, Rochester Police Department, New Hampshire Department of Transportation, and Bob’s Automotive & Wrecker Service assisted at the scene.

Trooper Daniel Bourque of the New Hampshire State Police Troop A Barracks is conducting a further investigation into the crash.
