Man arrested for DUI-Drug, outstanding warrant in Randolph

RANDOLPH — A New Hampshire man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after Vermont State Police responded to reports of a man repeatedly losing consciousness in a vehicle at a Randolph gas station.

Joshua L. Johnson, 39, of Piermont, New Hampshire, was taken into custody around 2:40 p.m. after troopers received a call about a suspicious male at The Barn on VT Route 66.

Officers found Johnson in a state suggesting drug use and determined he had been operating his vehicle while under the influence.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Johnson had an active arrest warrant for drug-related charges.

He was screened for DUI and subsequently transported to the Randolph Police Department for further evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert.

Following the assessment, Johnson was processed at the Royalton Barracks.

He is slated to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Orange Criminal Division, on May 15 at 8:30 a.m. to face the DUI-Drug charge.

For the outstanding warrant, Johnson will appear in court on March 21 at 12:30 p.m.

After the court proceedings, Johnson was taken to the Southern State Correctional Facility.
