Colchester police apprehend hit-and-run suspect after crash

COLCHESTER — Officers from the Colchester Police Department responded to a report of a single car crash at 2373 Roosevelt Highway around 3:20 p.m., where they found that the driver had fled the scene.

Authorities quickly set up a perimeter and deployed a police K9 unit, which led to the capture of Tyler LaFrance, 31, from Burlington, approximately a half mile north from the crash site.

LaFrance is being charged with operating a vehicle with a criminally suspended driver’s license and leaving the scene of an accident.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

The response to the incident included support from the Colchester Fire Department, Colchester Rescue, Essex Police Department, and Milton Police Department.

Traffic on Roosevelt Highway was disrupted between Poor Farm Road and Severance Road for about 30 minutes due to the incident.

The Colchester Police Department is seeking information from the public regarding the crash and asks anyone with knowledge of the event to call 802-264-5555.
