Wilmington traffic stop leads to firearm arrest

WILMINGTON — A routine traffic stop by Wilmington Police on Saturday resulted in the arrest of a Quincy man for illegal firearm possession.

At 12:19 p.m., officers stopped a BMW with an expired Florida registration.

During the stop, police found a loaded 9mm handgun with a defaced serial number inside the vehicle.

The driver, 27-year-old Jackinson Joacine, was arrested for possessing the firearm without a valid license.

Joacine faces charges including Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Number, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, and Possession of Ammunition Without a FID Card.

Additional motor vehicle offense charges were also filed.

Police Chief Joseph Desmond praised the officers’ work, highlighting their commitment to community safety and their role in removing an illegal firearm from the streets.

Following his arrest, Joacine was arraigned at Woburn District Court on March 18.
