Two-vehicle crash in Wallingford leaves no injuries, one car towed

WALLINGFORD — A two-vehicle collision on VT Route 140 near Winters Lane occurred early yesterday morning, leaving one vehicle damaged but causing no injuries.

A 1997 Chevrolet GMT-400 Pickup, operated by Christian Schmelzenbach, 26, of Tinmouth, reportedly collided with a 2007 Toyota Corolla driven by Holly McLellan, 53, of Wallingford.

The crash took place under cloudy skies with temperatures at 27 degrees, with snow-covered and icy road conditions reported.

According to the authorities, McLellan was traveling eastbound when she lost control of her Toyota, veering off the south shoulder.

Schmelzenbach, who was also eastbound in the Chevrolet pickup, was unable to stop in time and struck the rear of McLellan’s car.

Schmelzenbach’s vehicle emerged without damage, and he reported no injuries.

McLellan’s Toyota sustained rear-end damage and was towed from the scene by Hop To It Towing.

State police are investigating the crash but have not released further details at this time.
