Alton man arrested on forgery and theft charges, police seek additional victims

ALTON — A 50-year-old Alton man was arrested Tuesday on multiple charges including forgery, issuing bad checks, and theft, authorities said. Daniel P. Desrochers was taken into custody following an investigation that revealed several other potential victims of his alleged fraudulent activities.

The Alton Police Department is now reaching out to the public for assistance in identifying additional victims.

Detective Sergeant Adam Painchaud is leading the inquiry and has urged anyone in Alton who believes they may have been victimized by Desrochers to come forward.

People with knowledge of Desrochers’ activities outside of Alton are advised to contact their local police.

The Alton Police Department has released a booking photo of Desrochers from the arrest on March 20.

They are continuing their efforts to uncover the full extent of his alleged criminal conduct.
