Rockland police arrest man after break-in at Spring Gate Apartments

ROCKLAND — Early this morning, Rockland Police officers responded to a 911 call at Spring Gate Apartment complex on Martha Drive where a suspected break-in was reported.

At approximately 4:20 a.m., officers arrived to find the front window of an apartment building smashed and the door to a third-floor apartment forcibly opened with its lock mechanism destroyed.

The resident reported an unknown man had kicked in her door searching for his friend, and upon not finding the friend, fled the scene.

The suspect, described as a black male with black hair, wearing a brown/orange sweatshirt and dark sweatpants, was located at a Mobil gas station on Market St., about half a mile from the incident.

Shareef Ibrahim, 32, of Springfield, MA, was positively identified as the intruder.

During his arrest, officers found an 8-inch kitchen knife in Ibrahim’s waistband.

He now faces multiple charges including two counts each of Breaking and Entering in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony, Malicious Damage of Property, and single counts of Disturbing the Peace and Disorderly Conduct.
