LITTLETON — Chief Matthew Pinard announced that the Littleton Police Department responded to an incident Monday involving a collision between a commuter rail train and a tractor trailer.

The collision occurred at approximately noon at the railroad crossing near King Street and Taylor Street, when an MBTA Commuter Rail train and a tractor trailer collided.

Officers who arrived on the scene confirmed that there were no injuries resulting from the accident.

Passengers were evacuated from the commuter rail train and have been transferred to another train to continue their journey.

The Littleton Police Department is advising residents to avoid the area during the afternoon as the road near the tracks is expected to remain closed for an extended period to facilitate cleanup operations.
