EAST WINDSOR — Firefighters from multiple departments rushed to a structure fire at the Comfort Inn in the Warehouse Point section of East Windsor at approximately 9:45 a.m. Monday.

Upon arrival, Truck-238 from the Warehouse Point Fire Department reported the building appeared to have been evacuated and immediately began investigating.

Crews encountered heavy smoke on the first and second floors of the hotel.

Due to the intensifying conditions, a second alarm was requested, bringing additional resources to the scene.

Engine 12 from the Enfield Fire Department and Ladder 1 from the Windsor Locks Fire Department responded to the first alarm structure fire assignment.

ET-139 began a thorough search of the hotel to confirm all occupants were safely evacuated.

The source of the fire was located under a stairwell where the main electrical feed cables enter the building.

Eversource, the local utility provider, was quickly on scene and cut the power supply to the building, effectively mitigating further electrical hazard.

Firefighters continued to clear the smoke from the Comfort Inn, where approximately 30-40 people were displaced due to the incident.

East Windsor Social Services arrived to assist those affected with relocation efforts.

Mutual aid from neighboring fire departments, including Enfield, Windsor Locks, and South Windsor, played a crucial role in the morning’s emergency response.

Officials have reported no injuries from the incident.

However, the Comfort Inn will remain closed until the necessary repairs are completed to ensure the safety and security of future occupants.
