Brandon man arrested for assault, disorderly conduct in Hubbardton

HUBBARDTON — Vermont State Police arrested a Brandon man yesterday for allegedly threatening people with a 2×4 and acting disorderly in the town of Hubbardton.

At approximately 2:44 p.m., troopers from the Vermont State Police Barracks in Rutland were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of the incident.

While en route, troopers were provided with a description of the male suspect, who had left the scene.

Troopers encountered the man, later identified as 53-year-old David A. Torrey of Brandon, on Route 144.

Based on information provided at the scene, Torrey was arrested for simple assault and disorderly conduct.

Torrey was transported to the State Police Barracks in Rutland, where he was processed and released on a criminal citation to appear in Rutland County Superior Court on Monday, March 18. He was also issued conditions of release.
