SHAFTSBURY — A two-vehicle collision on US Route 7 near Mile Marker 19.2 resulted in minor injuries and traffic disruption on March 15.

Vermont State Police reported to the scene around 12:44 p.m., where a Hino box truck operated by Shawn Taylor, 35, of Bronx, NY, struck a stationary Ford Escape driven by Susie Dorgeloh, 74, of Manchester.

The incident occurred near a work zone, where vehicles were temporarily halted, causing Taylor to rear-end and sideswipe Dorgeloh’s vehicle before veering into a ditch.

Taylor, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered a minor head injury and was transported by Arlington Rescue Squad to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

Dorgeloh was unharmed and had been wearing her seatbelt at the time of the incident.

The box truck sustained significant front-end damage and was towed from the scene by All Service Citgo, while Dorgeloh’s Escape incurred rear passenger side damage but was operable.

Authorities temporarily closed US Route 7 to clear the truck.

The Vermont State Police were assisted by the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicle Police in managing the scene under cloudy skies and wet road conditions.
