Swanton man arrested for violating restraining order, resisting arrest

SWANTON — A local man was taken into custody on March 14 after allegedly violating a court-issued restraining order and resisting arrest, according to the Vermont State Police.

Luke Kennedy, 38, of Georgia, was reported to be in violation of Conditions of Release and an active Relief from Abuse Order at a residence on Guilder Lane.

Police responded to the call around 5:09 p.m. and encountered Kennedy, who initially resisted attempts to arrest him.

Following the confrontation, Kennedy was transported to the St. Albans State Police Barracks for processing.

He was later lodged at the Northwest Correctional Center with bail set at $10,000.

Kennedy is scheduled to appear before the Franklin County Superior Court Friday at 8:30 a.m. to face charges related to the incident.

The Vermont State Police have not released the identity of the victim, in accordance with policies regarding cases of sexual assault and domestic violence.
