MILFORD — A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a Worcester man on multiple drug charges Wednesday morning.

Jose Polanco Ramirez, 23, was pulled over by members of the Milford Police Detective Bureau at 11:21 a.m. near 55 Sumner St. after his vehicle, a black Mazda 3, was seen committing a marked lanes violation by detectives in an unmarked unit.

During the stop, detectives noticed a golf club and a sheathed knife within easy reach of Ramirez.

Milford Patrol officers arrived to assist with translation and a vehicle search, which uncovered several bags of crack and cocaine.

Ramirez now faces charges including unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a marked lanes violation, possession of a Class B drug, distribution of a Class B drug, and trafficking in cocaine, 18 grams or more but less than 36 grams.

The investigation and subsequent arrest highlight ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to combat drug trafficking in the region.

Ramirez’s arraignment details were not immediately available.
