Driver strikes utility pole in Topsham, causing power outage

TOPSHAM — A single-vehicle crash on Topsham Corinth Road near Stryker Road in Topsham on Wednesday, March 13, resulted in a snapped utility pole and power outage.

At approximately 1:44 p.m., Vermont State Police responded to the scene, where they found a 2002 Toyota Solara entangled in a wire, with the top of the utility pole snapped off and hanging by the wires.

The driver, a 22-year-old from Gardner, Massachusetts, advised troopers that she had been inattentive and veered off the edge of the road, striking the wire.

She was wearing her seat belt and did not report any injuries.

The Toyota Solara sustained damage to its front end and undercarriage.

Green Mountain Power was notified of the outage and responded to repair the utility pole. Legendary Auto responded to remove the damaged vehicle.
