Charlton police stop bus after report of firearm, student removed

CHARLTON — Shortly before 3 p.m. on March 14, Charlton Police responded to a report of a student possibly carrying a firearm on a school bus.

Officers intercepted the bus in question and conducted an investigation.

Initial reports of a firearm were found to be incorrect; the item in question was not a gun.

An 18-year-old male student was removed from the bus and appropriate measures were taken.

The situation is still under investigation, but authorities have assured there is no present danger to the public.

Legal proceedings are expected to follow, and officials at Shepherd Hill Regional High School have been notified about the incident.
