BOSTON — Boston Police Department’s E-18 Drug Control Unit apprehended a man on firearm and drug trafficking charges in Mattapan, recovering 272 grams of cocaine and a loaded firearm in the process.

Around 6 p.m. on March 11, officers from the Hyde Park district arrested 38-year-old Ted Bernier of Revere during a targeted operation at 885 Cummins Highway.

The arrest followed an investigation where officers observed a quick exchange between Bernier and another individual, suggesting a potential drug transaction.

After trailing the suspect’s vehicle to 577 River Street and witnessing an illegal U-turn, police initiated a traffic stop.

During the encounter, officers noticed a large plastic bag in the driver’s pants, which was later identified as containing cocaine.

A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered an STK 100 Ghost Gun with ammunition.

Bernier faces charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and class B drug trafficking.

He will be arraigned at Dorchester District Court.
