Springfield man arrested after traffic stop leads to seizure of large-capacity firearm

SPRINGFIELD — SSpringfield Police Officers seized a loaded large-capacity firearm and arrested 28-year-old Garrett Tyndal after a traffic stop yesterday.

About ten minutes earlier, an officer observed a vehicle on Boston Road that had its registration revoked for not having the car insured.

The officer then conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Boston Road and Heath Street.

There were three occupants inside the car.

Assisting officers arrived and during a search of the car recovered a firearm and more than the legal amount of marijuana to possess.

The firearm was loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition.

The driver, identified as Garrett Tyndal, was placed under arrest.

The passengers were released.

Tyndal is charged with carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a high-capacity magazine/feeding device, possession of ammunition without an FID card, possession of a Class D drug, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
